Community Guidelines
SoftwareRant works best when everyone is honest, respectful, and on-topic. These guidelines keep the discussion useful and safe.
1. Keep it legal
Do not post anything that violates the law. This includes threats, fraud, doxxing, copyright infringement, malware, or instructions for illegal activity. Content that encourages or describes illegal acts will be removed.
2. No defamation or harassment
Criticize software and vendors honestly, but do not make knowingly false claims about people or companies. Personal attacks, harassment, slurs, and targeted abuse are not allowed. Disagree with the product, not the person.
3. No self-promotion or spam
Do not use comments to advertise your own product, service, referral link, or content. If you work for a vendor, disclose it clearly, but do not post promotional or astroturfed comments. Repeated spam or low-effort posting will result in removal.
4. Stay on-topic
Comments should be about the software or vendor in question. Off-topic rants, unrelated memes, or general political or cultural debates will be removed.
5. Vote on quality, not opinion
Upvote comments that add useful information, honest experience, or constructive insight. Downvote comments that are unhelpful, misleading, or low-quality. Do not vote based solely on whether you agree with the sentiment.
6. Respect privacy
Do not share private or confidential information about individuals, companies, or other users. If you are reporting an issue with a vendor, keep it factual and avoid leaking sensitive details.
7. One account per person
Do not create multiple accounts to vote, comment, or manipulate rankings. Coordinated vote manipulation or fake activity is prohibited and will result in bans.
Enforcement
Moderators may remove content and restrict accounts that break these guidelines. If you believe a decision was made in error, contact us. We reserve the right to update these rules as the community grows.
